8th annual Surrey Community Leader Awards

On Saturday June 12, SMH Executive Director Leanne Heppell presented a Community Leader Award to Karl Gillies of Diamond Delivery on behalf of Fraser Health. This was in recognition of their recent work in delivering the Foundation’s Princess Irene tulips during the annual Tulips for Tomorrow celebration.

Over the past years, Diamond has delivered tulip pots to various locations around Surrey and has also been involved in delivering the 12-foot tall children’s mini playground in Oct 2009. If you are interested in learning more about the SMH Tulips for Tomorrow program, please visit their website at http://tulipsfortomorrow.com/

  NightShift

Care Centre             Sisters

When our friends at NightShift Street Ministries moved to their new location in February of this year, we were pleased to support relocating their warehouse, outreach, counselling and administration offices as well as help downsize the thrift store to its new home, Sisters Thrift Boutique, all at 10635 King George Boulevard.

 Moving

At their premises in Surrey, the charity organization provides daily hot meals, clothing and counselling to the community’s homeless. Support for the organization comes from fund-raising initiatives such as last month’s Charity Golf Tournament held at Northview, where golfers from Diamond Delivery put on a fine display on the green! We were also supportive of the annual Gala of Lights event in November.

NightShift’s mandate is to reach out 365 days a year on the street, and as the organization relies on the generosity of individuals, groups and businesses to support the cause in any way they can, they are always looking for volunteers to help with food and clothing collections, sorting and distribution. We are proud to announce that Diamond Delivery will be providing a-pizza-night-a-month support role on the street with NightShift!

There’s more in the pipeline as the Diamond Group is working alongside NightShift and their counselling division, The Care Centre, on an exciting new initiative to help individuals exit the street. More information will be published about that soon, so in the meantime  if you wish to learn more about Nightshift, and how you can help them in the cause, please visit their website at http://www.nightshiftministries.org.
